Pipe is abrasive blast-cleaned to reach the optimum profile for epoxy coating. Grit blasting as well as acid washing are available per customer specifications.
After cleaning, pipe is inspected for defects. Grinding is performed per specification.
All debris is blown out of the pipe prior to heating.
The cleaned pipe is heated via either gas-fired furnace or by electric induction. Temperature consistency is achieved by laser monitoring, producing real-time measurements. Powder application is applied in a uniform manner to the required thickness. Standard Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) is available, as is Dual-Coat (ARO).
Epoxy powder is applied using multiple spray guns. The guns are adjusted to produce the correct millage.
Pipe is cooled as specified by the powder manufacturer. Cut-backs are obtained by either taping or by come-along. Final inspection is performed to test for coating thickness, holidays, and bevel quality.
Our Paint Department is set up to apply internal liquid coatings as well as external liquid coatings (including abrasion resistant overlays).
